The first DeSoto
County Fair was held in 1953. It was started by a group of
civic-minded citizens who saw a need to show the many agricultural
products grown in the county. The county fair has been an annual
event for the last 56 years.
We are very
proud of our program, which has grown and improved each year. The
true reason the County Fair has improved each year is because of
the dedicated volunteers that care so much about quality and
character, the building of a new generation of youth guaranteed
the same traditions we grew up with. The kids are our future and
their development is our responsibility.
A lot of hard
work goes into the fair each year. The directors and members of
the DeSoto County Fair Association are all non-paid, civic-minded
people who devote a great deal of time and labor into putting on a
great event for the citizens of DeSoto County and surrounding
areas to enjoy. The DeSoto County Fair Association would like to
thank all of our volunters, sponsors, teachers, parents, students
and everyone else that helps us with our great tradition - The
DeSoto County Fair. To these people we say a great big
Thank You!
We sincerely
hope that you will come and visit us at the 56th annual DeSoto
County Fair, not just once, but often during the week. The fair
offers something for everyone. There will be exhibit booths,
livestock shows and sales, beauty pageants for all age groups,
gospel music, bull ride shows, rides on the midway and what is a
fair without food? Just the smell of the cotton candy, hamburgers,
corn dogs and sausages. And for dessert, ice cream and strawberry
shortcake. It makes one want to sample everything at the
fair!
We would like to
extend a special invitation to everyone to visit our exhibition
building. Come inside and see our booths and sneak a peek at what
the youth have made and entered in the competitive booths along
with the adult's craft booth and have your blood pressure taken at
DeSoto Memorial Hospital's booth.
Thank you for
your support, and check the daily entertainment
schedule.
Just have a
great day!
